PSYCHOTHERAPY vs. COACHING

Do you need or want to work with a coach or a psychotherapist?

A coach works with their clients in the present and focuses on the future.  The process is oriented towards action and results.  The focus is on goals, obstacles, and action plans.

A psychotherapist focuses on the past while moving forward to a brighter future.  Treatment is introspective with a focus on emotions, behaviors and why things occur as they do.

“Self-esteem does not necessarily involve continuous good feeling about oneself, or unruffled self-satisfaction.  Instead, it involves a sense that one’s life has meaning and that we can act meaningfully”.          –T. Apter

Your self-esteem and self-worth can be affected at any age.  Life experiences and stressors can alter your self-esteem.   Have you lost a loved one, a job, been a caretaker, have a negative relationship with food, compulsive buying, alcohol, and other people?  Do you suffer from periods of sadness, anxiety or lacked the motivation to move forward? Do you feel stuck? If your answer is yes, and you want to prevent or change any of the above, contact me for a consultation.

My treatment approach is psychodynamic and eclectic.  I am committed to starting where you are while being supportive, authentic, and empathic.  Together we will explore, understand your needs and work toward your goal(s) and determine the preferred method of treatment.
